In this project I was focusing on the notion of fragmentation in response to T.S. Eliot's “The Waste Land†Part 1 (The Burial of the Dead). To me, the poem suggests a journey someone undertakes but it is difficult to understand this fully due to the text being unstable and fractured, jumping from one scene to another. Discovering Baptiste Debombourg's installation ‘Turbo’ made me consider how I could deconstruct and reconstruct with a range of materials to communicate the concept of fragmentation while still representing the whole. Through my outcome I aimed to represent the unstable nature of the poem showing a powerful image in a fragile state. Materials - Plasterboard, acrylic paint and pastels Scale - Equivalent to A1
